How the calculation works
The theoretical splitter loss is calculated using 10 × log10(N), where N is the number of output ports. Estimated output power is: Input Power − Theoretical Split Loss − Insertion Loss − Additional Network Loss.
Actual PON optical budgets depend on the specific PLC splitter, wavelength, connectors, splices, fiber length, temperature and other network components. Use manufacturer specifications and field measurements for final verification.
